Karl Oppermann passed away on August 12, 2022, at the age of 91 in Veckenstedt. He was laid to rest in the closest circle of family at the St. Theobaldi Cemetery in Wernigerode.

On September 17, 2022, his final exhibition planned during his lifetime, ‘El Mundo – Un Teatro,’ was opened at Kloster Hedersleben. The farewell ceremony for Karl Oppermann took place on September 18, 2022, at the Christuskirche in Wernigerode, followed by a gathering in the Harz University.
