He was laid to rest in the closest circle of family at the St. Theobaldi Cemetery in Wernigerode. On September 17, 2022, his final exhibition planned during his lifetime, “El Mundo – Un Teatro,” was opened at Kloster Hedersleben, before finally bidding farewell to Karl Oppermann on September 18, 2022, at the Christuskirche in Wernigerode, followed by a gathering in the Festsaal (Mensa) of Harz University.
